In November 2013, my wife and I unexpectedly found ourselves needing to quickly move. With no family close by and young sons, we desperately needed assistance. A church member mentioned Blue Ridge’s Moving Ministry, but we were hesitant to reach out. We had been attending Blue Ridge for seven years and never knew the Moving Ministry existed or what it was all about.

God stepped in and told us to lay down our pride and ask for help.

We contacted Dick Deveney who coordinated the entire move. He and his crew were phenomenal at respecting our possessions and treating them like they were their own. I was so humbled that these guys had gave up their Saturday to help us. They prayed over and with our family after the move was complete.

During this time of transition, my two sons, Parker and Trenton and I decided that we wanted to be able to bless people in this way, since our family felt this huge burden of moving lifted off of us. We began serving on the moving ministry in December of 2013 and what an opportunity it has been for us to help others who are truly in need.

Not only are my sons learning what it is to serve others at early age, we get to be part of moving these families closer to Christ.

Many times we are moving people who don't attend church, and we use it as an outreach. Other times, we are moving people who attend Blue Ridge. In either case, we are being the church that the book of Acts describes.

At the end of every move the team prays for the family. I'm glad to be on the other end praying over the families like I was once prayed over.
